Insurance
Your business will need liability insurance, fire cover for premises, contents and stock, and cover for theft. Most business insurance policies are sold as a package including a number of additional areas of cover, including:
- Water damage
- Malicious damage
- Breakage of plate glass
- Computer breakdown
- Accidental or malicious erasure of computer records
- Loss of money on the premises and in transit
- Legal expenses
- Compensation for business interruption following a valid insurance claim
It is possible to extend a standard policy so that it covers 'all risks'. This will include claims for accidental breakages. Insurance policies for businesses in Northern Ireland will not cover terrorism.
Depending on the nature of your business, you may need specific insurance to cover a range of different areas. For example, if your employees use cars in the course of their work, they will need to be insured under an appropriate policy.
