Business Planning
The business and strategic planning process is an ongoing dynamic process that should be an integral part of your business activity. The output from this process is the business plan document. The purpose of the plan document is to critically assess every aspect of the organisation, to outline plans for the development of the business, as well as the actions required to achieve its objectives. It should be used internally to set out the view of the future and detail the strategies and action plans for making it a reality. It should also be used by external funders to assist in investment decisions. A poor plan is considered a sign of management weakness, whereas a good plan will greatly assist in attracting support from funders.
The plan should be written and presented by those individuals who are going to deliver the outcomes. They will have the experience of the organisation, the commitment and enthusiasm for the project. “Ownership” of the plan is an important aspect and will help it succeed.
That being said, specialist advice may be needed in support of the team drafting the plan. At the Incubator we have the relevant experience to assist in this task.
